The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics for Juniors is an annual competition in Astronomy and Astrophysics for junior high school students (under 16 years of age). The 5th IOAA-jr will be held at Ubon Ratchathani, THAILAND from 1 to 8 November 2026.

This year's Olympiad is jointly hosted by the Promotion of Academic Olympiad and Development of Science Education Foundation (POSN) under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, together with Ubon Ratchathani Province, Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), and the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT).

Ubon Ratchathani Province is a land of wonders, famously known as the 'City of Four Lights' and the gateway to the Mekong, Mun, and Chi rivers. It is here where the lifeblood of Isan converges, creating a landscape of rich cultural heritage and the most breathtaking first sunrise in Thailand. As your hosts, we are committed to providing world-class hospitality and an unforgettable experience that blends academic excellence with the unique charm of Northeast Thailand (Isan).
